What are the chances of two New York natives meeting up over 1,000 miles away and starting up a new Italian restaurant? Well, that’s what happened when Eli Gold and Walter Caron started Nino’s Italian Restaurant in Pelham, Alabama. Eli, who grew up in Brooklyn and Walter, a Bronx native, met 6 years ago in Alabama and developed a friendship. Walter, a seasoned restaurateur, has managed multiple Italian restaurants in the past and will be handling the food service end of the business. Eli, also known to many as the
“Voice of the Crimson Tide” and a NASCAR MRN radio broadcast favorite, will be handling the business end of the operation. From time to time, you may come into Nino’s and see Eli welcoming visitors and delivering fresh Italian entrees to the dining room. For you sports enthusiasts, don’t worry, he’s planning on keeping his “day job” of sports broadcasting for many more years to come, but will always be willing to talk sports with you if you've got the time! If you see Walter, it’s a sure bet that he’ll welcome you like family and work to make sure your dining experience with Nino’s is top notch.
